541,433. Work holders for grinding machines. LINGHAM, R. July 27, 1940, No. 12218. [Class 60] A holder for the grinding of lathe or shaping tool bits comprises a base 10 securable to a magnetic or other table and fitted with a member 13 which is angularly adjustable about a horizontal axis and is fitted with a sleeve member 17 which is angularly adjustable about a perpendicular horizontal axis and carries a non- rotatable sliding collet 21 which is movable axially to clamp or release the tool bit. Angular scales graduated in four sections of 0-90 degrees are provided for the adjustment of the members 13 and 17. The collet is closed by tightening a nut 24 and knurled nuts 15, 19 are provided for clamping the parts in adjusted positions. In a modification, Fig. 4, the rotatable member B has an extension B<SP>1</SP> angularly adjustable in a part A<SP>1</SP> of the base and is secured by a bolt and collar L having cut-away portions, Fig. 5, to engage the extension B'. The sleeve member C is similarly clamped after angular adjustment by parts I, J operated from a nut G.
