Abstract
540,972. Hydraulic &c. motors; valve gears. AIRCRAFT HYDRAULIC APPLIANCES, Ltd., and WYLIE, H. N. March 5, 1940, No. 4087. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVI] The piston 19 of a hydraulic or other motor, which may for example actuate a wind-screen wiper through a rack 23 and pinion 24, actuates its reversing valve 27 through a link 40 engaged by stops 43 on a block 41 fixed on the piston rod and pinned at its other end to a sleeve 54, Fig. 5, by a pin passing through a groove in an outer sleeve 39 which is secured by pins 44, 51 to the valve stem and to a projection 52. This projection is grooved to engage locking balls normally pressed into locking position by a ridge in the sleeve 54 ; motion of this sleeve caused by the link 40 compresses one of the springs 47, and when the motion has released the projection 52 the spring shoots the valve into reverse position. The stops 43 carry arms 61, Fig. 10, by adjustment of which the times at which the link 42 ceases to swing freely between the stops and begins to move the valve gear can be varied. The motor may have a relief valve 37 providing a flow of liquid to warm the valve and motor during stoppages, and may have a parking latch 57.
