Abstract
540,872. Liquid fuel burners. McKEAN, J. G. Aug. 9, 1940, No. 12779. [Class 75 (i)] A liquid fuel burner comprises a burner body 1 formed with a fuel passage 2 and a steam or compressed air passage 3 terminating in an annular recess 4, an atomizer disc 5 formed with a central aperture 9 and angularly spaced apertures 10, and a cap or nozzle 7 screwing on the body 1 and formed with a mixing chamber consisting of an axial truncated conical passage 8 terminating in a cylindrical discharge passage 8'. The apertures 10 may be inclined at the same angle as the passage 8 and be angled in the same or opposite directions to impart a whirling or turbulent movement to the fluid in the mixing chamber. The outlet end of the aperture may be flared.
