Abstract

540,392. Diamond tools. STEVENS, A. H. (Wheel Trueing Tool Co.). April 30, 1940, No. 7793. [Class 70] [Also in Group XXIII] Diamond tools are made by heating to a temperature of not over 2100‹ F. out of contact with air and under pressure for about thirty minutes, a compressed mixture of metallic tungsten particles, preferably hydrogen reduced, and diamonds, td provide on the surfaces of the diamonds a strongly adherent layer of tungsten carbide, and then re-heating for about ten minutes at atmospheric pressure in contact with a brazing material such as a silver solder or german silver which melts and fills the interstices of the mass.
