Abstract

539,594. Mounting terminals ; direct connections between' conductors. LUNDBERG & SONS, Ltd., A. P., and PEGG, G. May 9, 1940, No. 8371. [Class 38 (i)] In order to prevent loosening of a terminal having a screwed stem 1 and an enlarged head 2, the shoulder 3 between the head and stem is serrated or roughened to engage a flat contact member 8 interposed between the shoulder and a panel 11 in which the terminal is secured by a nut 6 on the stem. If the contact member 8 is of hard metal the portion 10 coincident with the shoulder may be serrated, but if the contact is of soft metal the pressure of the serrated shoulder will penetrate its surface. The member 8 may constitute or carry a switch contact 9 or other connecting piece.
