Abstract

538,124. Valves. C.A.V., Ltd., and LEESON,S. Jan. 19, 1940, No. 1199. [Class 135] Afloat-operated valve device for maintaining the electrolyte level in an electric storage battery comprises a chamber a secured in an aperture in the top of the battery said chamber housing a valve member with a soft rubber or similar facing adapted to co-operate with a nozzle-like seating &c. The valve member is secured to the upper end of a spindle f guided by a perforated plug e forming the bottom of the chamber and secured to the actuating float o The connections between the valve member, float and spindle may be made adjustable. As shown, the valve member comprises a rubber diaphragm stretched over a bowlshaped head m. The top of the chamber is closed by a plug c having an inlet connection i and vent passages p.
