Abstract

300,779. Goodyear, E. J. Nov. 5, 1927. Induction p i p e s , extra air valves for; air silencers.-An extra air valve comprises a body 1 having a cavity 5 therein which communicates with the induction pipe through a conduit connected to an outlet 9, and a hollow adjustable plug 10 adapted to coact with the bottom of the cavity, the cap 12 of the plug being provided with means 19 for silencing the air current. The cap 12 is provided with air inlet apertures 20 communicating with a space 17 containing wadding, cotton waste, felt or the like 19 held between gauze discs 18, the air then passing through a passage 13 and outlets 16 in the plug to the cavity 5. The bottom of the cavity may be provided with a resilient washer 6.
