[Class 38 (iii)] Groups of motors, each comprising several motors 1, 6 and 2, 7 &c. are started in succession, they may also be stopped in succession, but the stopping sequence need not be the same as the starting sequence. A drum controller 24 energizes in the desired sequence, either directly or through contactors, contact bus-bars 14 ... 18, one for each. group of motors, the motor contactors 11 being energized from these busbars. Two-speed or braking arrangements can be obtained by a duplicate set of control bus-bars energizing subsidiary contactors associated with each motor.
