537,512. Heat treating aluminium alloys. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 19, 1939, No. 32474. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1938. [Classes 72 and 82 (i)] Aluminium base alloys containing 5-25 per cent. of silicon, up to 6.0 of copper, and 0.02-3 of magnesium are heated to 155‹-226‹C. for 2-10 hours, hardened by quenching or cold working and then reheated at the same temperature for twelve to two hours. The treatment of an alloy 5 per cent. of silicon 1À3 of copper and 0À5 of magnesium is referred to.
