Abstract
537,129. Compensating meters for temperature errors. VENNER TIME SWITCHES, Ltd., MATTHEWS, S. J., and DEAN, A. W. Dec. 12, 1939, No. 32025. [Class 37] The quadrature ring or band is composed partly of a metal having a low specific resistance and a relatively high temperature co-efficient and partly of another metal having a low temperature co-efficient and a relatively high specific resistance. As shown in Fig. 1 the quadrature band is composed of a solid rectangular ring 1 of copper from which a section of one side 2 has been removed and replaced by a similar section 3 of copper-manganese alloy having a low temperature co-efficient. In modifications the two metals are formed as complete rings 6, 7, Figs. 3 and 4. The permanent brake magnet of the meter may also be fitted with a temperature compensating device as described in Specification 537,128.
