Abstract

536,833. Atomizing apparatus. TRIER, V. A., and ANDRE (COMPONENTS), Ltd. Nov. 28, 1939, Nos. 30997, 30998, 32511 and 32512. [Class 69 (iii)] Apparatus for converting a spray into an aerosol by ultra-atomization comprises an inlet for induced or compressed air leading into an atomizing chamber at a point at the rear of the atomizing nozzle. Fig. 1 shows an apparatus in which one or more atomizing jets 2 are supplied with compressed air by a motor driven pump 3 through a pipe 8. Above the jets are a series of baffles 12, 13 from which mist passes into a space provided with a cowl 16 supported with air from a fan 18 part of which is diverted down a passage 23 and assists in carrying the mist upwards through the baffles. Immediaately above the jet 2 is a fan 21 rotation of which by the air assists in breaking up the mist. The compressed air supply is regulated by a relief valve 27 controlling a branch 28 leading from the pipe 8 and delivering direct into the atmosphere at 29. Fig. 4 shows a form in which compressed air is led from a hollow ring 35 around the jet 2. Further forms are shown in which the air past the jet is induced by the main flow of air. The flow of mist may be regulated by control valves in the compressed air or liquid supply alone or in combination with relief valves. Specification 465,357 is referred to.
