Abstract
535,774. Delivering measured quantities of liquid. BEASLEY, H. H., and BEASLEY, FRENCH & CO., Ltd. Sept. 19, 1939, No. 26135. [Class 106 (v)] In a liquid measuring apparatus in which a measuring chamber 2 is periodically charged by the displacement of a float or other body 10 relatively to the liquid reservoir 1, surging or frothing of the liquid in the measuring chamber 2 is prevented by the provision of an air vent tube 11 arranged coaxially with the measuring chamber and supported by distance pieces 15 so as to depend slightly below its rim 3 and afford a narrow annular mouth 12 for admission of the liquid. The outer surface of the lower end of the tube 11 may be flared. The liquid is discharged from the measuring chamber after each filling by raising a valve 7 at the base of the chamber by engagement of a flange 8 on the valve stem with the rim of the carton or other receptacle to be filled.
