Abstract
535,760. Feeding sheets. CROSS PAPER FEEDER CO. (1939), Ltd., and LEIGH, W. June 12, 1940, No. 10251. [Class 100 (i)] A sheet-feeding or registering device, shown as adapted to register sheets against a lay 24, comprises a reciprocating finger 1, or fingers 1 with which co-operates a surface of revolution such as a roller 9 adapted to have contact with the sheet and to press it against the fingers 1 as the sheet approaches the lay. The fingers 1 are reciprocated by a lever arm 4 which is oscillated about a shaft 5, and the roller 9 is carried by an oscillating lever 10 mounted in a member adjustable by a screw 15. The lever 10 is oscillated by lever 20 keyed to the shaft 5 and a link 19 having a pin-and-slot connection with the lever. This causes the roller 9 to engage the sheet in the middle of the stroke of the fingers 1, and to be displaced away from the fingers at the end of each stroke. The fingers 1 are guided by brackets on a bar 1, and the roller 9 is provided with a spring-operated braking means to check its rotation when out of contact with the fingers 1.
