[Class 28 (i)] [Also in Groups V and XVII] In moulding and covering sweets, such as lollipops or candies, with removable wrappers, material in plastic state is injected under pressure between plies of wrapping material which will stretch when heated. The edges of the plies are held together, but the plies are stretched and forced apart by the injected material. A lollipop may be made by forcing liquid syrup through a needle 10 into the space between plies 5, 6 of the covering material gripped between the parts 1, 2 of a mould. The mould parts may have cooling jackets by means of which the setting of the syrup is promoted. The needle is then replaced by a lollipop stick. After removal from the mould the edges 17 of the plies 5, 6 are trimmed off and sealed by means of heated dies 15, Fig. 6. A tab of the film around the stick can be used in peeling off the film. Film of rubber hydrohalide may be used as covering material.
