533,350. Knitting. HEMPHILL CO. Oct. 31, 1939, No. 29075. Convention date, Nov. 28, 1938. Drawings to Specification. [Class 74 (ii)] A method of knitting connected articles in string formation consists in knitting loose courses from a yarn which, later, is destroyed, in continuation of the last knitted stitches of a preceding article, and in continuation of the loose courses a second article is knitted and so on. Each article has, at the beginning edge, a course of plain yarn stitches and elastic yarn knitted in alternate wales, and in continuation, at spaced intervals similar courses of elastic and plain yarns. When the article is unravelled in the direction of knitting, any one of the elastic courses will present a selvedge. Specifications 300,605, [Class 74 (ii)], and 528,673 are referred to.
