Abstract

532,491. Gas turbines. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 1, 1939, No. 25078. Convention date, Sept. 3, 1938. [Class 110 (iii)] A turbine 15 drives an electric generator 12 and is driven by the exhaust gases of an I.C. aeroplane or other engine which are admittted at 17. The gases are led to a nozzle segment 22 by an open passage 25 to the right of a partition 21 and to the rest 23 of the nozzle annulus by a passage 24 provided with a valve 26. A passage 18 provided with a valve 19 leads to waste. The valves are controlled by a speedgovernor 27 through pressure oil, operating devices 30, 32, a lever 36 pivoted at 37 and a floating lever 38. The latter is biassed by a spring 43 so that on diminished speed the valve 19 is closed before the closing of the valve 26 commences.
