Abstract

530,506. Eyepiece lenses. BARR & STROUD, Ltd., and FRENCH, J. W. Feb. 25, 1939, No. 6272. Drawings to Specification. [Class 97 (i)] One or more aspherical lens surfaces in an eyepiece are formed so that the vertex of the surface is distant from the surface of a sphere tangential to the surface at the margin of the lens by a length at least equal to 3 per cent. of the diameter of the lens. The diameter of the lens may be greater than that of a sphere having a curvature equal to the curvature at the vertex of the surface. Optical data for a telescope eyepiece are set out in the Specification.
