Abstract

530,395. Conveyer chains. CAMPBELL, H. June 22, 1939, No. 18219. [Class 24] Conveyer chains of the type which are constructed to bend in planes parallel and at right angles to the conveyer surface, comprise links A consisting of two parallel side plates 3 connected by transverse rivets 4 and spacers 5, and connecting links B consisting of two U-shaped members 1, 2 connected by rivets 6 and respectively embracing the rivets and spacers of the adjacent links A. The ends of the members 2 fit inside the ends of the members 1, and both are biassed to the open position. The conveyer surface may be formed by integral wings extending laterally from the upper edges of the plates 3, and tapered outwardly to allow bending of the conveyer in the plane of its surface. All the parts are preferably made of stainless steel, and the spaces between adjacent ends of the links B form the teeth for engaging the driving sprocket.
