Abstract

529,659. Fluid-actuated valves. BAILEY, S. R., and HANDY FLUSH VALVE CO., Ltd. May 24, 1939, No. 15472. [Class 135] A liquid-metering valve of the kind claimed in Specification 452,616 has a movable actuator operatively connected with the relief valve and a trip device which, when the main valve has moved a pre-determined distance serves automatically to interrupt the operative connections between the actuator and the relief valve. The main valve carries a washer 19 adapted to co-operate with a seat 9 around the outlet 13 and is connected to a piston having cupleathers working in a liner 14 held in place by a detachable cap 16. The liner is spaced from the casing to leave an annular passage connecting the inlet 12 with the actuating chamber 10 by way of a restricted orifice 17. The valve member is provided with a chamber 20 connected by restricted orifices 21 with the chamber 10. The chamber 20 houses a spring-loaded tilting- disc relief valve 23 provided with a tubular stem 25 and having a telescoping extension 26 adapted to be engaged by a spring-loaded sliding member 31. This member works through a packing gland 33 and is operated by curved head 35 on an actuating handle 32 held in place by a cap 36.
