Abstract
528,970. Impregnating - compositions for electric insulation. WILLIAMS, E. G., SWALLOW, J. C., PERRIN, M. W., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. May 4, 1939, No. 13395. [Class 140] [Also in Groups XXXVI and IV] A cable suitable for voltages up to 1,000 volts comprises a central conducting core or cores surrounded by a layer of insulating material of thickness not exceeding 0.1 inches and consisting essentially of fibrous material impregnated with normally solid polythene. The polythene may have a molecular weight between 10,000 and 30,000 and may be made as described in Specification 471,590, [Group IV]. The fibrous material may be linen tape. Up to 50 per cent. paraffin wax may be added as a filler. Specification 505,762 is referred to. The Provisional Specification states also that other materials as set out in Specification 514,687, [Group IV], may be added as fillers.
