Abstract

528,306. Pipe joints. PATEX SOC. ANON. May 3, 1939, No. 13270. Convention date, Oct. 31, 1938. [Class 99 (i)] In a joint of the kind in which a metallic sealing ring b is compressed in the conical bore of a socket c, and deformed so as to cut into the pipe, the conical surface is hardened. The ring is also case-hardened but to a lesser depth than the socket. The coupling nut f may be hardened where it engages the ring. The conical surface may be on a separate member d which is screwed into the socket, the member and socket being of different materials.
