Abstract

527,315. Water-tube steam boilers. STIRLING BOILER CO., Ltd., and NOBLE, E. E. April 4. 1939, No. 10530. [Classes 123 (ii) and 123 (iii)] In a boiler comprising a water-tube lined gas pass 4 to one side of the upper and lower drums 1, 2 and containing a superheater 11 supported by the wall tubes 8, 10, the outer row of wall tubes 9 and the tubes 10 are suspended by rods 16 from beams 4, 9 from which the drum 1 is also suspended. Baffles 14 between the wall tubes are supported by projections 15 on the tubes. The tubes 9, 10 and the riser 21 from the furnace wall tubes 22 open into the upper part of the steam drum behind a baffle 18. A byepass 7 between the pass 4 and a tube bank 5 is controlled by a damper 32. The gases flow from the down pass 5 to an up pass 6 containing an economizer 39 which is supported upon projections on the wall tubes of the pass. The wall tubes of the pass are suspended in a similar manner to the wall tubes of the pass 4. The headers 52 of the superheater and the headers 55 of the economizer are suspended by rod 54, 57. The inner and outer tube rows 8, 9 at the side of the pass 4 may be connected by hooked projections on one row engaging projections on the other row.
