Abstract
527,181. Iron oxide pigments. KUKI, F. April 3, 1939, No. 10339. [Classes 1 (iii)] and 95] A black or dark coloured pigment is obtained from highly ferruginous yellow ochre earth, by conveying the earth through a tube, with simultaneous agitation and heating, and introducing gas containing free hydrogen or readily available combined hydrogen in the opposite direction, cooling the treated earth, preferably in an atmosphere of inactive gas, such as carbon dioxide, and pulverizing. Water-gas, coal-gas and natural gas are specified as hydrogen-containing gases which may be used.
