Abstract
In manufacture of carbon black by dissociation of hydrocarbons and heavy residues such as tar, the yield is 70%, when a supply gas of low calorific value is used as heating gas with a high carbon monoxide content, i.e. between 25% and 35% such as in blast furnace or producer gas having minimum hydrogen and water vapour. The gas can be mixed with a high calorie gas such as propane or methane.
