527,160. Stays for hinged articles, hinges. BROOK, E. J. L. April 1, 1939, No. 10230. [Classes 65 (i) and 65 (ii)] A stay for the lid 2 of a gramophone &c. comprises two arms 4, 5, jointed at 8, the arm 5 carrying a cam 11 with two recesses 12, 13 adapted to be engaged by a roller 20 carried by the end of a spring 17 housed in the arm 4 and abutting at its lower end on the end of the housing. When the lid is open it is supported by the spring, the roller 20 then engaging recess 13. When the lid is closed, the roller engages recess 12 and the spring keeps the lid closed. The joint 8 may have friction washers and be adjustable by a nut 26.
