Abstract

526,586. Canopy for manhole-frames. WOODROW, W. J., WOODROW, J. W., WOODROW, A. C., and WOODROW, W. J. [trading as WOODROW & CO., A. C.]. March 21, 1939, No. 8957. [Classes 20 (i) and 107] A manhole cover frame 10 is provided with recesses 9 near its four corners to receive projections 8 on brackets 7 which are secured to an air-raid canopy superposed above the manhole. Sleeve nuts 14 coact with bolts 11 passing upwardly from the frame to secure the canopy in position. The canopy is built of arcuate plates joined together at their upper edges by a cap plate 2 and stiffened by angles 3 disposed transversely of the plates. Slots 17 may be provided along the lower edges of the plates to receive the bolts securing the brackets to the canopy and these bolts may also be used to secure longitudinal stiffener angles 4 at these positions.
