Abstract
526,334. Lubricating-cans. GAUNT, J. G. (Universal Plastics Corporation). March 13, 1939, No. 8078. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept, 27, 1939.] [Class 66] The body of a lubricating-can is formed from transparent or translucent moulded thermoplastic material such as cellulose acetate or from plastic material such as phenol-formaldehyde resin and is attached to the bottom, of which the outer part at least is of metal, by bending the bottom flange 9 over the thinned lower portion 11 of the body and preferably folding them together as shown in Fig. 4. The central portion of the bottom may also be of plastic material; when it is formed wholly of metal the centre part may be springy and may be formed with grooves 3. The spout 5 is detachably connected, for instance by screw means, to the body portion ; it may be made of metal or of plastic material. In place of a spring bottom the container may be provided with a pump or other device for discharging the contents.
