Abstract
525,839. Letting-off warps in looms. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. March 1, 1939, No. 6760. Convention date, May 23, 1938. [Class 142 (ii)] The warp 1 passes from the beam 2 over a tensioning roller 4 mounted in a lever 7 which controls through a spring 15 a servometer &c. the brake 14 acting directly or indirectly on the beam 2, the beam 2 and the lever 7 being locked at the time of beating up. As shown in Fig. 1, a disc 20 on the brake shaft 19 is straddled by the bifurcated end 24 of one arm 7a of the lever 7 which is clamped between the two spring closed legs of a plate 25 when a cam 30 driven from the main shaft allows at the time of beat up. As shown in Fig. 4, the lever 35 carrying the tension roller 34 is locked between spring-pressed plates 39 when a cam 47 lowers the wedge 45 from between the plates, the action of the brake 14 on the beam 2 being at the same time increased by the crank 49. The shaft carrying the cam 47 and crank 49 is driven from the loom main shaft. The lever 7 is loaded by a spring 60, 85, and the angle between the line of action of the spring and the arm of the lever to which it is connected is kept constant. As shown in Fig. 6 this is effected by sliding the spring abutment 66 vertically when the attachment pin 63 is adjusted in the straight slot 61 in the lever 7, and as shown in Fig. 9, by making the slot 81 curved.
