Abstract
523,573. Uniting and dividing by fusion. SOC. L'AIR LIQUIDE, SOC. ANON. POUR L'ETUDE ET L'EXPLOITATION DES PROCEDES G. CLAUDE. Jan. 6, 1939, No. 510. Convention date, Nov. 19, 1938. [Class 83 (iv)] A tool-holder carriage 1 particularly for use in working with an arc or a blowpipe 2 is mounted on two pairs of wheels 8 and is provided with means for positively driving each of them and magnetized cores 10 across the wheels of each pair. The cores are axles surrounded by windings 15 carrying pinions 11 geared to a motor driven screw 12. In operating on a pipe 7 an iron band 19 clamped thereto prevents deviation of the carriage from a circumferential path. A cable attached to the opposite sides of the frame passes around the pipe. The band 19 may be arranged to one side of the path of the carriage and may comprise a rim engaged by a roller on the carriage. When working on non-magnetic metal a frame of magnetic material is interposed between the carriage and the workpiece.
