Abstract

523,418. Making transformer &c. cores. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., ADAMS, W. S., and VIVIAN, G. E. Jan. 5, 1939, No. 411. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXV] Sheet-metal joints. The laminated core 1 of a transformer or choke is clamped between end shields 2 provided with outwardly-turned flanges 5 engaged by the inturned edges of side plates 4 which are slid into position while pressure is applied to the end shields, one of the side plates 4 being divided diagonally so that by movement of the parts thereof an air gap 7 in the adjacent core limb may be variably bridged.
