Abstract

522,479. Inductances. HANSELL, J. B., and METROPOLITAN - VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Nov. 14, 1938, No. 33119. [Class 38 (ii)] A voltage regulator comprises a subdivided winding A, B which is mounted on a core 1, 2 shaped to provide for the winding parts independent magnetic circuits the reluctance of which may be varied by a movable magnetic member 15 to adjust the voltage distribution across the parts, the secondary circuit being connected across a part of the winding potentiometer fashion. The member 15 is slidable in a guide 16 of insulating material and is adjustable by means of a screwed rod 17 and nut 18. The magnetic member 15 is cut away in the centre to increase the air gaps 5 so as to reduce the impedance of the windings A, B with the member in the central position. The core 1, 2 may be provided with a larger number of slots and the subdivison of the winding increased. Star, delta, V and T connected polyphase systems are described.
