Abstract

522,328. Cleaning floors. CARLING, E. C. Jan. 4, 1939, No. 334. [Class 138 (i)] Improved lubricating means are provided in a floor scrubbing machine which has absorbent means for removing the cleansing fluid after use. The scrubbing machine comprises rotary brushes 2, Fig. 1, driven by a motor 4 which also drives gear wheels 5, 6 engaging two carrier rings C supporting wipers 7 which absorb liquid from the floor and pass between rollers 8, 9 to remove moisture into a container 10. Each carrier ring has a part C, Fig. 3, with gear teeth 11 meshing with a gear wheel 6 and a part C<SP>2</SP> for attachment of wipers 7. U-shaped packing 20, 21 seals the spaces between the rings C and the other parts of the apparatus to prevent ingress of cleansing fluid and permit efficient lubrication.
