Abstract

522,028. Photo-electric colorimeters. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES. Dec. 2, 1938, No. 35150. Convention date, Dec. 4, 1937. [Class 40 (iii)] The ratio of the intensities of two spectral regions of a light is measured by two photocells connected to an instrument adapted to measure the quotient of two electric currents, which photo-cells are sensitive or made sensitive by the interposition of filters to the two spectral regions respectively. As shown in Fig. 1, light from a lamp 1 passes in three separate beams through a red filter 5, a yellowish-green filter 6 and a blue filter 7 to photo-cells 2, 3, 4, the output of which are connected in pairs to two quotient-meters 8, 9. As shown in Fig. 3, these meters 8, 9, are arranged with the axes of their pointers at two corners of an equilateral triangle, so that the point W of intersection of the two pointers indicate the colour of the light, which may be read on in conjunction with the various lines shown on the triangular diagrams.
