Divided out of 519,931, [Group XII] [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Groups XII and II] Apparatus for supplying pulverulent material, in particular for supplying powdered material such as lithium compound to a furnace comprises a container 12 of transparent material supported by a base 13 and closed by a cover 14. A vertical shaft 18 within the container and provided with a series of blades 23a-23f of decreasing length and increasing pitch and angularly displaced relatively to each other is driven by a motor 21 and serves to agitate the material and raise it in a cloud up through the internal cylinder 26 so that it falls down outside thereof. A combustible mixture of air and gas under pressure is supplied by a compressor 27 through a pipe 29 to a cleaner 30 from which it passes in part through a pipe 31 to the bottom of the container at 35 and in part through a' pipe 32 to venturi nozzle 33 communicating with the container by a pipe 34 and serving,to withdraw the mixture of gas and lithium compound from the container and supply it through the pipe 9 to a furnace.
