Abstract

519,914. Valve gear; lubricating. WATTEL, A. L. F. Dec. 2, 1938, No. 35160. [Class 122 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVII] A valve 1 is positively actuated in both directions by means of a lever 24 having a pair of rollers 29 engaging respectively an external cam 30 at one side of a disc 32, and an internal cam 31 at the other side of the disc, the lever 24 being connected by a rod 21 to a lever 14, which has a forked end carrying rollers 17 sliding in horizontal guides 6 forward in a stirrup 5 sliding upon the valve guide 2. A spring 8 above the stirrup bears on a washer 9 on the valve stem, and an adjustable screw 12 in the top of the stirrup engages the top of the valve stem with a slight clearance. The cam rollers 29 are mounted on roller bearings, and lubricated through passages provided in the pivot 25 and arms of the lever 24. In a modification, the cams act directly on rollers at the end of the lever 14, the rod 21 and lever 24 being omitted.
