Abstract
519,198. Composite sheets. HAFELE. H. Sept. 16, 1938, No. 27114. Convention date, Sept. 18, 1937. [Class 145 (ii)] [Also in Group X] A flooring slab, which is assembled from a number of boards or strips, comprises an upper layer 1 of hard wood, and a lower layer 2 of soft wood which is at least twice as thirk as the upper layer and is provided with grooves 2<1> cut therein in the direction of grain of the layer, and the two layers, which are glued together, are arranged so that the direction of grain in one layer is at right-angles to the direction of grain in the other layer. The boards or strips constituting each layer are connected together by glue. The upper layer is formed of wood such as beech, oak, walnut, or maple, and the lower layer is formed of wood such as pine or white or yellow deal. The grooves 2' in the lower layer 2 may be formed in either side or both sides thereof. The underside of the slab may be covered with a layer of roofing- felt or pitch.
