Abstract
434,053. Built-up boards. SLIVECKA, B., 21, Annenska Street, Cesky Tesin, Czecho Slovakia. Sept. 24, 1934, No. 27382. Convention date, Sept. 22, 1933. [Class 145 (ii)] in the manufacture of built - up boards the logs are, before or after steaming or steeping in lye with subsequent drying, cut up into planks substantially in the manner shown in Fig. 11. Those planks cut equidistant from the centres of the logs are secured together with the directions of curvature of their annual rings opposite ; for example, the planks I are arranged to form a composite board as shown in Fig. 16. The centre planks from two logs, or the two halves of one centre plank V are arranged as shown in Fig. 15. The planks may be staggered as in Fig. 17. As shown in Fig. 28, veneer or thin planks may be interposed between the layers for strengthening purposes; the composite board may be faced with veneer or thin boards ; the board may be provided in known manner with drying grooves, various forms of these being illustrated ; various forms of tongues and grooves are illustrated, the boards being glued together.
