[Class 55 (ii)] [Also in Group III] Oil &c. used in a bubble tray washer 10 for removing benzole and sulphur from gases is pumped through a heat interchanger 3 in counterflow with vapours from a stripping still 5, the oil returning through the still and. a cooler 7 to the washer by gravity. Steam is supplied to the still through a pipe 6 and vapours therefrom pass via the heat exchanger to a condenser 13. The oil cooler and condenser 13 may comprise a common assembly of coils subjected to a cooling water stream. Steam condensed in the still may be collected in a separator 15. Orifice plates, 16, 17 may be inserted in the pipe on the pressure side of the pump to control the rate of oil flow. Specification 430,989, is referred to.
