516,590. Making cylinders. BRISTOL AEROPLANE CO., Ltd., and MANSELL, H. C. June 29, 1938, No. 19361. [Classes 83 (i) and 83 (ii)] Casting.-In making aluminium alloy or other soft metal cylinder head for an internal combustion engine with sparking- plug holes lined with harder metal, a preformed liner 10 of stainless steel &c., having the same co-efficient of expansion as the soft metal, is located in the mould 16, 21 in which the head 11 is cast. The liner is supported by a peg 14 and has external longitudinal and circumferential grooves 19, 18. After casting the liner is screwed and machined to final form as shown in Fig. 4. Specification 174,968, [Class 83 (i)], is referred to.
