Abstract
515,587. Elastic-fluid turbines. EICKHOFF, C. F. R. June 7, 1938, No. 16942. Convention date, June 8, 1937. [Class 110 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXVII and XL] A charge of atomised fuel or fuel being fed to an internal combustion engine is passed through a hollow perforated electrode a into a surrounding electrode b and subjected therebetween to an electrostatic field which ionizes the charge. The field may be produced by a potential difference of 65,000 volts. Exhaust gases are conducted through a jacket h surrounding the electrodes to test them. The invention may be applied to steam entering a steam turbine. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 13840/06, 26869/06, [both in Class 7], 381,192, [Group XXVII], and 485,840, [Group XL].
