Abstract

515,560. Electric hot - plates. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and CATTELL, G. S. June 22, 1938, No. 18537. [Class 39 (iii)] An electric hot-plate has a lower sheet metal plate 1 in which are pressed spiral grooves 2, 3 one within the other. Electric heating elements 4, 5 embedded in insulating material are arranged in and wholly contained by the grooves. The grooves are filled with insulating material in the form of paste, grooves made in the insulation, and the top of the grooves are filled after the heating element has been placed in the groove. An upper plate 10 is then welded to the plate 1, and the insulation is hardened. Alternatively, the insulation is in the form of insulating beads which are reduced to powder by compacting in the grooves.
