[Class 39 (iii)] In an electric heating- plate wherein a heating resistance 1 and its insulation 2 are pressed against the plate 4 by a mica cushion 5 carried by a trough 6, the cushion is deformed by arranging that the downward pressure of the heating element is incident at an area between the areas pressed on by the trough. The curved cushion therefore exerts a spring pressure on the heating element. The trough may be driven sufficiently hard against the cushion to bring the whole of their adjacent surfaces into contact.
