Abstract
515,439. Power-operated shavers. AKTIEBOLAGET SVENSK RAKKLINGA. June 1, 1938, No. 16419. Convention date, June 10, 1937. [Class 131] In a shaver of the kind wherein a slotted cutter member 5 is reciprocated by an electric motor 2 within a slotted shear plate 4, a current of air induced by a fan 8 or pump driven by the motor sucks the skin against the shear plate and draws the cut hair through a passage 7 to a collector chamber 13, the air passing to the fan through a sieve 12 and channels 14. A valve 21 or a valve-controlled aperture 15 regulates the suction, and guards 10 having recesses or holes 9 are provided at the sides of the shear plate. Fig. 2 shows the relative angular disposition and width of the slots 6 in the cutter 5 and the slots 11 in the shear plate 4, the arrangement securing an aperture of constant area for the flow of air. To remove the cut hair a ring 18 is turned to open apertures 16 in the handle.
