Abstract

514,326. Thermally-actuated mixing valves. SHANKS & CO., Ltd., and SHANKS, G. M. May 3, 1938, No. 13130. [Class 135] In a thermallyactuated water mixing valve controlled by a bi-metallic coil 3 in the water stream and having valve members in the form of two nested apertured thimbles 1, 2, the coil rotates the inner thimble 1 within the fixed outer thimble 2. The cold water inlet 7 communicates with the thimble 1 at a part nearer the coil 3 than does the hot water inlet 6, and to ensure easy working at all temperatures the inner thimble may be made of stainless steel while the outer thimble may be of brass.
