Abstract

514,027. Rubber soled footwear. GIRAUD, J., and LACOSTE, M. M. Sept. 26, 1938, No. 28013. [Class 17 (ii)] One or more elements each comprising a tubular metal body filled with a material impervious to moisture but pervious to air and provided with a perforated head and cap are inserted in a rubber sole or heel during moulding to provide ventilation and to earth the body of the wearer. The elements may comprise a tubular body 1 between a head 2 and a cap 4 on the inner side of which is held a length of string of woven hemp which fills the body 1. Air may penetrate through this into the shoe through an aperture 5 in the cap. Anchoring projections 3 may be provided on the head 2 to grip the rubber.
