440,398. Ventilating footwear. CALZATURA AERATA MEDUSA SOC. ANON., 16, Via Bettinelli, Castellanza, Italy. March 27, 1934, Nos. 9591 and 9592. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 25, 1934]. [Class 17 (ii)] Cavities are provided in rubber soled footwear in the sole or in a sock adjacent the foot wherein air is circulated to afford ventilation. The cavities may take the form shown of lateral recesses having longitudinal communicating channels 3 provided in the face 1 which is adjacent the foot. The recesses may also be connected by transverse channels and may be provided in areas at the toe and heel of the boot &c. The channels may, alternatively, be formed by applying ribs to the inner face of the insole or sole, or by interposing between these layers an apertured layer. The insole may be provided with perforations to admit air to the interior of the boot &c. below the foot.
