[Class 108 (i)] In a wheelbarrow comprising a pair of side shafts 3 interconnected by cross-spars and each carrying at one end a journal for a two-wheel axle 8 and formed at the other end with a handle 2, a pivoted telescopic arm is provided, adjacent the handles, having at its outer end a claw 4, hook, or the like adapted to, engage the load to assist in transferring the load to the barrow, the arm being adjustable longitudinally relative to the shafts. As shown the arm 1 is telescopic, the tubular part being pivoted to a collar 10 slidable on a bar 11 carried by transverse rods 12 and having a detent 13 adapted to co-operate with a tooth or teeth 14 on the bar, the collar being rockable by a handle 15 to disengage the detent from the bar. The telescopic parts of the arm 1 may be relatively fixed by a pin 6 engaging registering holes in the parts. The side shafts 3 may be formed with curved surfaces 7 projecting beyond the wheels so that when the barrow is up-ended for loading the wheels are raised off the ground. According to the Provisional Specification the arm 1 is pivoted on a transverse bar carried by and adjustable between the shafts 3, while the arm may be supported above the load by means of a catch constituted by a second arm adapted to engage the bar and carried by a sleeve loosely mounted on the transverse bar, the sleeve being held in position by a notch &c. formed thereon engaging a lug on the transverse bar.
