Abstract

513,166. Two-part couplings. SANDERS & CO. (WEDNESBURY), Ltd., and PRESTON, W. March 15, 1938, No. 7944. [Class 38 (i)] An electrical connector of the plug-in type comprises a hollow casing 5 open at one end and made of rubber or the like, plug contacts 6 secured in the closed end 5e of the casing by the engagement of shouldered portions 6b in holes in the said end, terminals 6a associated with three contacts 6 and wholly located in the interior of the casing, a thickened portion 5b of the casing within which is formed a passage 5c for the cable to be attached to the terminals 6a, clamping means 7 for the cable accommodated in recesses in the passage, and a detachable closure 9 which fits within the open end of the casing and serves to stiffen the casing. The clamping-device 7 consists of plates which are adapted to be drawn together by means of screws 8, in order to grip the cable and prevent strain at the terminals 6a when the cable is pulled.
