[Classes 9 (i) and 119] The body 2 of a projectile 1 is formed with a rear chamber 4 for the powder charge, said chamber being closed by a plug 5. The body 2 is also formed at its rear end with a flange 6 and carries near its tapered end 3 a soft metal ring 7. The projectile is preferably made in one piece but, if desired, it may be built up of several pieces, e.g., the nose of a hard or hardened material may be carried by a hollow body of a softer material, the thickness of the wall increasing from the rear towards the nose. If desired, the projectile may be inserted in a liner 8, Fig. 2.
