Abstract

509,746. Forced-flow steam-boilers. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd., LULY, E. L., and PRICE, A. C. Jan. 3, 1939, No. 181. [Class 123 (ii)] Feed liquid is supplied to a forced-flow vapour generator operating with recirculation of working medium by series-connected pumps comprising a booster pump 10 and a high-pressure pump 11, liquid from a separator 7 into which vaporizing tubes 1, 2, 3, discharge being led to the inlet of the high-pressure pump after being cooled to below vaporization temperature. Feed liquid from a hot well 9 passes between pumps 10, 11, through tubes 14, 17, of heat exchangers 18, 19, in which it is respectively heated by excess liquid eliminated from the system and by the return liquid on its way to pump 11. A valve 16 enables the rate of circulation to be adjusted, e.g. proportionally to the rate of flow of feed liquid which is regulated to maintain a level of liquid in the separator.
